I will ask Niko about Amalia to see if he remembers any details. On the photo itself is his first wife KATINA. She sang with him for many years. The photo was sent to us by the daughter of Thanasis Evgenikos and Niko was very surprised when he saw it. There is a CD that was available with Amalia Bakka's music that I purchased several years ago with a booklet and photos. I will find it and perhaps I can scan in some of the photos. I have some connections with collectors that know about Amalia and her contribution to music.

My name is Lea (short for Aglaia) and I am married to Nikos Pourpourakis. I want to thank you all again for your interest in another musician that has been around since the 1950s and has contributed a little bit to our music culture.

AND OF COURSE!! I will try to give you as much information as possible about the rembetiko music style here in the United States and primarily what Niko remembers about playing this type of music. If you have access to Facebook, I did a quick biography based on the one you have here and I added all the artists (musicians and singers) that he worked with over the years. Please feel to look at all the photos and read the biography which I will keep updating with more information as I obtain it. I have also added more to You Tube.

We must congratulate you and your husband, for keeping all these fotos and letting us see !!!

For example, the fotos with Hiotis and many other musiicians, tranfer us at that era... the good relations among the musicians, the popularity they had to the Greek-Americans, the culture they were carrying and giving to the Greeks, the time they had, the whole atmosfere...
